Thanks for posting Mike's response. I have a different take on why AMD and CPQ replied so quickly. I don't think its that they want to surprise anyone and keep it secret.

Due to SEC regulations, this kind of info is of a material nature and can move a stock which makes the SEC very concerned with the company's motivations and why they want their stock to move. So, if there is no truth behind it, why allow the rumor to continue...what company wants to have to deal with the SEC anymore than they have to.

In addition this arrangement as suggested can create problems with other customers...like GTW for AMD and INTC for CPQ...especially if its not true. The last thing either company wants is an OEM or a vendor to be freaked. So frankly, I have to believe its nothing more than gossip.
