As a general rule, light travels more slowly in any medium more dense than a vacuum (which, by definition, has no density at all). For example, in water, light travels at about three-fourths its vacuum speed; in glass, it moves at around two-thirds. wheeee....does this mean that those of us who missed the JDSU and GLW parabolas can get in on the act earlier.... go hogwild and buy your local water utility? i mean, talk about fat pipes... thanks for a fascinating article.
