Beautiful Rudi:
Apropos your delightful and insightful anthology (well, the first page, anyhow)of Jewish humor, there is no need for GNET's mothers (a/k/a shark ladies)to be sitting shiva. This merger with INSP appears to have all the indications of a marriage made in heaven. It is perfectly normal for mothers to shed a few tears at a child's engagement and wedding, but those lachrymose droplets need not be an expression of sadness alone. The disappointment often does not linger. I am reminded of a memorable scene from Never On Sunday when Merlina Mercouri is laughing, after crying, at the end of a classical Greek Tragedy in the firm belief that afterward everyone, including the onstage deceased, happily go down to the beach...hey, I saw the movie about 40 years ago, or more, and my memory has limitations. Shark ladies do not bury your offspring yet. After all, so far only the name will be changed. And "What's in a name?"
My great fear is that when the marriage proves to be a success, playwithknives (great creation,jb), vindictive boy from Vermont, will claim to be the schatchen (Sp?).
