The Sledge rumor, after being discounted by common sense, does appear to now be refuted by AMD:

We have not accelerated the public timeline for SledgeHammer, so don't expect to see systems this year.

But this is a curios statement by someone who is trained to choose his words carefully. If they really wanted to refute the rumor, they should have said,

"We have not accelerated the timeline for SledgeHammer, so systems will not be available this year."
