ATMI Supplies New Malaysian Fab With Abatement Solutions; $2.8 Million Dollar Order to Abate Semiconductor Effluent

DANBURY, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 27, 2000--ATMI, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATMI) today announced it is supplying a major Malaysia semiconductor fabrication plant with its point-of-use gas treatment equipment. Shipments are anticipated during the third quarter of 2000.

Jim Burns, President of ATMI's Systems Division, said, "ATMI's combustion and decomposition oxidation scrubbers are among the industry's best for abating the exhaust streams from the semiconductor fabrication process. In a competitive landscape, ATMI was able to offer compelling environmental technology and operational value by being able to provide the most appropriate scrubbing technology from our comprehensive abatement product line."

Doug Neugold, ATMI President, said, "ATMI is a global force in the semiconductor industry. We've worked hard to establish the infrastructure to support our customers - around the world - with our complete materials solutions surrounding the process tool, combined with local service and support. Because of our efforts, we believe we are increasing our global market share in the semiconductor environmental marketplace."

ATMI's CDO(tm) Point-of-Use abatement device is an industry-leading gas treatment solution for CVD, Diffusion, and Etch processes. When equipped with the Hydrogen Injection System (HIS(tm)) option, the CDO(tm) is also capable of treating PFC gases - perfluorinated carbon compounds, commonly referred to as global warming gases.

Metron Technology helped ATMI win this order, supporting ATMI's sales and service efforts in Malaysia. Metron Technology N.V. (NASDAQ: MTCH) is a leading worldwide supplier of materials, capital equipment, and outsourcing services to the semiconductor and related industries. Metron Technology N. V. has its headquarters in Burlingame, California, and is on the web at www.metrontech.com.
