It seems to me Nokia's message is pretty clear.

Nokia was at the right place at the right time, capturing a big chunk of the red, green, blue phone market.

Now the GSM market is dead. Future quarters are going to be the worst. Handset is a commodity business subject to cyclical moves. Not only is it a product transition period, it is technology transition period.

Nokia is totally unprepared for the next round. No chipset, no phones (except for some cdma phones from Telson), no market (GSM - WCDMA vaporware), no strategy.

May be I am overly optimistic here but if I am Mr. Ollila, I would be trying to set up a meeting with Mr. Sulpizio of San Diego right now.
