Mr. Takeda, (35) is a veteran mountain climber and writer. He did his first climbs at the age of 15 in Boise, Idaho. Over the years, he's completed high standard routes in North America, Europe and the Himalayas. After college, he lived in Yosemite National Park where he began his freelance writing career. He is a Senior Contributing Editor for Climbing Magazine and a contributing writer for Sports Afield, Zulusports.com and Outdoor Explorer.
He is the author of Pete's Wicked Book (Prime Media) and writes a column called Petes' Wicked Tales for Climbing Magazine. Additionally, his work appears in international journals including Gakujin (Japan), Desnivel (Spain), Alp (Italy) and Vertical (France). His photography appears in magazines and catalogs including Patagonia, Black Diamond and Rock and Ice. Pete has also performed research and development for equipment manufacturers including Marmot where, in 2000 he co-designed the Marmot Front Point pack. He also has front line specialty outdoor retail experience, with three years outdoor retail sales, and from 1996 to 1997, was marketing director for Blue Star International, the exclusive distributor of the French made Cousin Rope in North America.
