SCQ/NAN bought four years of work that seems to be leading in the right direction at Koillismaa. From the prospect:

"The Geological Survey of Finland began its research and exploration project on Koillismaa in 1996. This project included extensive remapping, excavations, bedrock and till geochemical sampling and diamond drilling.

Short Summary of project work to date:

By the end of October 1999 the GTK has drilled 13,362 meters in 144 diamond drill holes within the Koillisma complex. There is also a small amount of drill core from previous exploration stored at the government repository in Loppi.
Fully updated 1:250 000 geological map for the entire area and other updated maps at 1:1000-1:150 000 scale.
7000 outcrop or boulder observations giving essential information from each site.
1000 outcrop and boulder samples analyzed for base metals (ICP-AES) + Pt-Pd-Au (PbS fire assay, GAAS finish).
2500 drill hole samples analyzed for base metals + Pt-Pd-Au using same methods.
81 outcrop and boulder samples analyzed for Rh, Ru, Pd, Ir, Os, Pt and Au by NiS fire assay and ICP-MS.
Several detailed bedrock and till geochemical study areas with hundreds of samples.
Regional till geochemical data (ca. 1500 samples) analyzed by XRF for major elements and a suite of trace elements including Pd and Au.
Low altitude aerogeophysical surveys with ca. 50 m height and 200 m line spacing.
More than 100 km2 ground geophysical magnetic, EM, and VLF-R surveys generally with 100 m line spacing.
Ca. 80 line kilometers multielectrode IP soundings and ca. 80 line kilometers traditional IP profilings.
Ca. 100 line kilometers gravimetric survey and a regional gravimetric survey with several thousand single station readings."

If NAN is pleased with the results from the drilling that they will perform during the 3 years to come and wants to buy the concessions they also have to pay GTK for this job, if not, it is for free. Finish gov. promotes mining, what else could you say...
