I don't immediately take anyone at face value nor do I immediately assume that they are being deceptive.

The tone of your posts indicate that you believe that gene is being deceptive. There is nothing to indicate this and your approach and your questions do nothing to help establish his credibility. They will only serve to alienate him toward you.

If you want to establish his credibility ask meaningful questions and remain objective until he has proven himself one way or another. I stress, ask meaningful questions. His financial status is meaningless in establishing his credibility.

Though he may not have earned credibility with you, he has certainly not done anything to earn the enmity that you have shown.
