A bigger problem is the coyote-dog hybrids. There are no fertility barriers here and coyotes won't "mutate" but will breed into something unnatural and out of place (like Russian Thistle).

I've been in the remote Mojave desert and have seen wild dog-packs living on God-knows-what along the Southern Pacific Right of Way (Mojave River canyon). These animals are feral mixes of large domestic dogs: dangerous, hostile to and fearless of other animals (including people). One of the few animals that I believe should be shot on sight. Pure bred coyotes and wolves, OTOH, get a bad rap IMO. I don't like feral cats or pigs either.
