My fault. I was confused. Yes, we were talking about two different things. Everything I said in my previous post is still accurate, but now let me try to answer the right question.
The Hot Subjects link in the Toolbar *should* be going to a "master" list of hot subjects, i.e. all categories. And it did work that way - until a couple weeks ago (yes, the database upgrade).
So, in short, this was not an intentional change, and it's one of the few remaining bugs that we have to clear up from the database upgrade. Up till now, we have not considered this a super high priority item. But, given this feedback, we'll raise the priority and determine whether it is most efficient to fix this right away, or whether it'll fix itself when we roll-out the new Stocktalk layout.
