jim, re: ""The Intel announcement effectively denies Via the DDR chipset market for P4.""

I would add that INTC's new plan also results in reduced RDRAM spot market pricing pressure (we are already seeing that), thus blunting the rallying cry of the naysayers, "price" and "availability." P4 system assembly will benefit, as long as Samsung, Micron and NEC continue to ramp. BTW, in Micron's latest theatrical attempt to slap INTC/RMBS, Kipp Bedard grudgingly admitted that Micron IS producing RMBS. Where was the announcement? (next they will ramp whilst denying it all <ggg>):

(what a name, Kipp Bedard. Sounds like he played lacrosse at Hotchkiss and summered at the Hamptons)

On a different observation, I believe RMBS is carrying INTC's IP torch against the OEM's and suppliers. Throttling the non-compliant MM's, OEM's and Via w/ RMBS litigation threats should keep these players closer to the INTC line. Collateral benefit for the big guy.

RMBS is going point for INTC. Let's hope INTC continues to provide backup.
