Far be it from me to defend Emile Vidrine. We disagree on almost everything, especially about Israel. But I will fight to end to defend his right to say what he pleases.
He is a scholar. He knows far more about the Talmud than I do (or anyone else I've read on this thread).
Although I admire and respect the Jewish people, especially the Jewish state throughout history, I have no use whatever for the collected ruminations of a thousand rabbis. Read critically, the prophets are shown to have incited rebellions, coups d'etat, and religious discrimination throughout history. Religious hysteria caused the destruction of the Jewish state, and is doing much to threaten it right now.
I warn you! If you quarrel with Emile you must prepare yourself. I disagree with almost all of his conclusions. But it seems to me that he is honest and straight forward in what he says.
I know nothing about his mental health. I know he annoys many people. IMO, that is what is wrong with religion of any kind. However internally consistent it might be, it cannot convince any objective outsider of its truth.
It would be a shame IMO if we stopped quarreling and blackguarding people on this thread. It is exactly what a religious thread should be about. People taking potshots at others. It works better if we stick to the internal truth.
Let 100 flowers bloom. Let 100 creeds contend.
