100cfm,

vaporware may not be a technically correct term but here is my point for wcdma.

The biggest problem with wcdma at THIS MOMENT is backwards compatibility. I am not aware of any dual mode wcdma/GSM chipsets available today, nor any coming in the horizon. (I would appreciate anyone who knows of one please post, that would be a company that we should invest in immediately)

Now think about it from a practical standpoint. DoCoMo appears to be the front runner in the vapor war. Who is going to buy a wcdma phone? What is going to be the coverage area? What is the benefit to the user, 1.2 kbs per hour rate? Who are they going to roam with?

Why would QC involve themselves in clearly an inferior technology? No company can afford to not cover all the basis in the telecom world. Decisions in this arena have proven to be made, not by consumer demand, but by global politics and influence peddling. QC may very well be the first company to come up with a multi mode GSM/wcdma chipset and this chipset could be the biggest "failure". However, now qc can offer all the wcdma advocates what they claim they want. It would then be much harder for a carrier, country, vendor to be spreading FUD when the side by side comparison clearly demonstrates the benefits of choosing cdma2000 immediately.

I am not ruling out the possibility that wcdma may be a DOA technology.
