It is possible that we could have gotten a better deal at Yalta, and it is disconcerting to see photos of Alger Hiss at FDRs right arm, or to notice how ill FDR looked. However, I believe that Yalta was ultimately irrelevant. Stalin was supposedly committed to free elections at the earliest opportunity. He reneged. The facts on the ground made it impossible for us to do much about it..........
