100,

sometimes we can rely on simple common sense while trying to analyze highly technical stuff.

Think about the following:

1) 1x chipsets are not only done with testing, they are shipping now. Where are wcdma chipsets? Who are making them? What are the features? Who is testing them?

2) KT is hoping to launch 1xMC before the end of the year. My guess is confirmations of their respective launch dates from Sprint and Verizon will be forthcoming. In the mean time, DT CEO is still trying to introduce superior wireless technology to us poor US citizens via the 1.3 million subscribers of VSTR.

3) Carriers want 1x capable phones NOW. QC and the licensees are ready to deliver. Who is delivering wcdma phones?

4) How many months had 1x been through testing at every level, including the final stage, by the customers? How far along is wcdma in the same process? A year from now, using the US market as an example, VZ and Sprint have fully deployed 1x. SBC is still talking wcdma. DT just completed purchase of VSTR and will be spending $5B to install 2G GSM to improve coverage area. AWE should be bankrupt by then.
