I don't think Beckjord was kidding. I think he may have been very much influenced by such movies like PREDATOR starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and PREDATOR II. In the mid 1970s, CHINA RECONSTRUCTS (since evolved into something else) reported sightings of BIGFOOT-like creatures by villagers in several remote parts of China. In one of these encounters, a hideous-looking and slouching creature (Bigfoot?) was killed. Its body was so badly mutilated that researchers arriving at the village a few days later found it useless for study. Unfortunately, in those days, nobody took samples for DNA analyses. In another encounter, after killing and mutilating the creature, fearful and superstitious villagers cremated the body in order to ward off any malevolent influences that the creature might have brought to their village. It seems to me the creatures that were killed were either overly curious (curiosity kills more than cats) about humans but were not smart enough to elude them. The notion that Bigfoot-like androids came from outer-space is interesting. But, to me it seems somewhat far-fetched.
