To all: Well, we continue to sink today. Here is a PR from ATML regarding all of this. I bet the same could be said of IDTI. Wish they would issue something. JDN

Atmel Comments That Business Prospects Remain Exceptionally Strong

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 28, 2000--Atmel Corp. (Nasdaq:ATML) commented today that its business prospects remain exceptionally strong. The wireless telecommunications end market continues to demand more and more silicon as new functionality such as audio play capabilities, text messaging, Web Access Protocol enabled internet browsing and other e-commerce features are driving Flash technology densities to 64 megabits and beyond. Additionally, other fast-growing applications such as digital cameras, bluetooth, fingerprint identification, settop boxes and networking devices are also driving greater demand for Atmel products.

Commenting on recent news, George Perlegos, president and chief executive officer, stated, "As anticipated, there have been recent announcements regarding adjustments to expectations in the wireless telecommunications end market. All of this has been anticipated in the guidance that Atmel has already provided to the investors following our recent quarterly earnings announcement."

Perlegos continued, "There have been many negative comments made concerning the health of the Flash market. Atmel believes these comments are without serious analytical reflection and do not take into account the dynamics of this healthy and robust market. We remain very confident that the 28% of our business that comes from Flash will continue strongly, driven by increasing unit demand, transition to higher densities, and the rapidly growing numbers of applications that use Flash technology."

Founded in 1984, Atmel Corp. is headquartered in San Jose with principal manufacturing facilities in Colorado Springs, Colo., Irving, Texas, Grenoble, Nantes and Rousset, France and Heilbronn, Germany. Atmel designs, manufactures and markets on a worldwide basis advanced logic, mixed-signal, nonvolatile memory, and RF semiconductors. Atmel is also a leading provider of system-level integration semiconductor solutions using advanced CMOS, BiCMOS, BiPolar and SiGe process technologies.
