The Iron Curtain was a provocation. It could not have stopped us from bombing Moscow. They didn't think we would.

In the 30s, the Popular Front was active. The last big red scare (before WWII) was after WWI.

Saying that the Bolsheviks were justified in the way they regarded our system is like saying that the Nazis were justified in exterminating the Jews. They have this crazy ideology which demonizes a class, as the Jews were demonized by the Nazis, and puts them at odds with "bourgeois democracy". They vow to create revolutions to overthrow democracy wherever they can. Then we are blamed for protecting ourselves.......

Post- Stalin, the Soviet Union was still brutal, but less so. There are other regimes that were as bad or even worse at times. But they were not committed to remake the world, or directly a threat. Anyway, Turkey is not a puppet, and not as bad on civil rights as you think. The Shah was worse, but still not quite as bad as you seem to think. As I said, we did not oppose the Soviet Union because it was bad, but because it threatened us..........
