Cheney will not have a long-term positive impact on Doobya's campaign. Geez you are being very kind. Try a severe negative impact. Cheney is a hard-line anti choice, pro-gun "family values" zealot who has an openly gay daughter. Bush knew when he went into this that he had to come off as more moderate, thats where the compassion angle came from. The media is already tearing Cheney apart on guns. If Gore picks a popular, fiscally conservative moderate like Dianne Feinstein as VP then Bush is toast. Otoh, if Bush had made a better choice for VP (my choice would have been Elizabeth Dole) then he would have a heads up. Sheesh major cluelessness from the republicans.
