Re:Rambus could, if they wanted to, demand royalties for all that was produced by all the world's memory manufacturers from 1995 to date. Actually, Barry they can only claim royalties back to the date of the issue of the relevant patents. In some cases, this is 1999 although I think they had a few patents issue in 1996 most were still working their way through the patent office. Remember too that the settlements are to be amortized over a 20 quarter period. This means that they show up in the following quarter as 1/20 of the settlement amount. I agree that the licensing is proceeding at a more rapid rate than I had anticipated. We have had 3 licenses in less than a month and I believe the are negotiating with at least 11 other firms.
