Here is a dose of misery:

Receivers falling by the wayside

The Bears will go into the season with three very capable quarterbacks. Whether they'll have actual targets is a different story. Receivers Chad Mackey and D'Wayne Bates both suffered injuries on Friday. Mackey is expected to be out a week after dislocating the patella in his left knee, according to the Chicago Tribune. Bates is listed day-to-day with a strained right hamstring. Earlier in the week, Marcus Robinson, Sulecio Sanford and Marty Booker all suffered injuries.

Bears load up on defense

While second-year QB Cade McNown may feel pressured to get the Bears offense clicking, a lot of focus was placed on the defense this offseason. In addition to signing four prominent defensive free agents, Chicago took LB Brian Urlacher with the ninth overall pick in this year's draft. ESPN.com's John Clayton wrote about Chicago's additions on defense during his tour of training camps.

News and Notes

Running back Curtis Enis sat out of camp on Friday with mild back spasms and rookie RB Frank Murphy sprained his right foot, according to the Chicago Tribune. They are both day-to-day.
