SI DIAMOND ANNOUNCES FIRST CINEMARK INSTALLATION AND LAUNCHING OF THREE NEW INDOOR PRODUCTS
AUSTIN, Texas, July 28, 2000 – SI Diamond Technology, Inc. (OTC BB: SIDT) through its subsidiary, Electronic Billboard Technology (EBT) today announced the installation of the first sun-visible, digital billboard at a Cinemark Theatre in Austin, Texas. As previously announced (see press release dated April 27, 2000), EBT will operate the display, sell advertising on the display, and share a portion of the advertising revenue with Cinemark. Four additional locations have already been jointly selected by EBT and Cinemark.
EBT has launched three new indoor products-
The Marquee-Touch, a 15” diagonal display with touch screen input and resolution of 768 x 1024 pixels with 16.7 million colors. The Marquee-Touch can be used for point-of-sale applications, message posting, scheduling and advertising. The Marquee-Touch was installed and is operational at the Dell Jewish Community Center in Austin, Texas and the company is in negotiation to install the Marquee-Touch at all Jewish Community Centers in North America.
The E-Window, a 6-foot diagonal projection display with a resolution of 768 x 1024 pixels with 16.7 million colors. The E-Window mounts on an existing glass window and can change electronically between translucent and clear states. The E-Window can show text, graphics, animation and video. Applications for the E-Window include announcements as well as point-of-sale advertising.
The Digital Poster, a 42” to 60” diagonal display that can be mounted in a dedicated bay or directly in a wall. The resolution is 768 x 1280 pixels with 16.7 million colors. The Digital Poster can show text, graphics, animation, and video. Applications include point-of-sale announcements and advertising.
Each of the products can be used in stores, malls, airports, or any other high pedestrian traffic indoor area, and can either be sold or installed on a revenue sharing basis.
“These products have tremendous potential for the customer base we are building with our outdoor sun visible displays, as well as for other retailers that are interested in indoor point-of-purchase (P.O.P.) advertising,” said Marc Eller, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of SIDT. “Giving companies the ability to do P.O.P advertising both outdoors and indoors is very attractive to both the advertiser and the retailer selling the products,” continued Eller.
