Steffens, who then headed Merrill's broker troops, in the early 1990s apologised to Duncan after her male supervisor called her ex-husband saying she was sleeping around to get more clients, according to Duncan. The problem was Merrill never fired the culprit, even allowing him to keep his seat next to her, Duncan said. Steffens on Friday declined to comment on the incident.
You've gotta wonder about the intellegence level of the supervisor, as well as the intellegence level of mgmt for not acting.
Imagine if employees were stealing, cheating, violating SEC laws......what then? The good old boy attitude of turning a blind eye?
While stupid behavior will exist anywhere humans are employeed, the fact that it is tolerated speaks volumes about the individuals involved.
