Devils Food Cake (for all the little devils in you)

2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/2 cups milk
1 cup shortening
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
1/4 teaspoon salt

In a bowl combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Add milk, shortening, and vanilla. Beat with an electric mixer on low speed until combined. Beat on high speed for 2 minutes. Add eggs and beat 2 minutes more. Pour into 2 greased and floured 8 inch round baking pans. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 - 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Chocolate Butter Cream

1/3 cup butter
4 1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup milk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
Milk to add if needed

In a bowl beat butter and cocoa powder until fluffy. Gradually add 2 cups of the powdered sugar, beating well. Slowly beat in the 1/4 cup of milk and vanilla
Slowly beat in remaining sugar, Beat in additional milk if needed to make smooth and easy to spread.
Frosts tops and sides of two 8 inch layers.
