Okay, I know this has been covered here before, but I can't recall where so I'm wondering if someone can give me a little advice about connections to the net.

Currently the only high speed I can get locally is DSL from UUNet. it costs $149/month on a one year contract. Two years and I don't have to pay the router charge of $450/year.

I just called my cable company(adelphia) and they said they are now connecting people in my area and could hook me up by 8/21. The cost is $49/month.

SO, would DSL connect me that much faster than a cable connection? Also, what are the security implications to going with cable.

I'd really appreciate any and all help on this one, and sorry if this is a totally repetitive question for the thread.
