Rande - be careful with your advice about the tax implications of being a trader -- what can be deducted, etc.

There is no "trader status" with the IRS. Income is capital gains, hence passive. Traders pay no self employment tax, FICA, Medicare, etc, and have very limited opportunities for deductions.
