bernie: No that was "gnu222" I am "victor_si_uk". <g>

My first sign up name ever was gnu222. When I joined SI I used my initials and then my name, victor. When I tried to use victor on RB I was told it was taken so I used vocco, which are my initials and a company. Although I have explained all this maybe 5 dozen times to paranoid posters -I actually volunteered it in my 2nd or 3rd post on RB - I still get comments from conspiracy theorists.

I will use victor_si_uk on Yahoo and that might serve the double purpose of advertising SI, which is my preferred board and my "home" board for NETP discussions.

This board was the lead board for NETP before it had its IPO (see the first post at the top of the page). It was also the main board for four or five months after the IPO. I think it lost its following during the November 1999 run-up in NETP's price. Then Yahoo was flooded with momentum traders and hypsters and everyone flocked there for tick by tick commentary. To get away from the excesses of Yahoo people went to Raging Bull because Silicon Investor requires subscriptions. In the process, SI lost its original posters, of whom I was one.

I think SI is clearly superior. Not only does it have an Ignore button, but the webmistress is very active, posts are removed and posters suspended or banned for spamming or breaking the rules. I find it easier to read and the 15 mins window for corrections is very good.

SI is much more influential than RB - I know the CNBC staff use it for quick studies before they do interviews. Writers of articles also use it and good stuff on NETP is much more likely to be noticed by them on here than on RB or Yahoo.

Although we will have to build up the posters one by one, I know there are many lurkers - not only SI members who do not post, but non-members who have registered and can read but are not allowed to post.

The Private Message facility is also very good because it saves having to send e-mails.

Perhaps a few lurkers who have read this post, will be encouraged to post a few comments.
