Hi all; Big news: Dataquest Questions its RDRAM forecasts!

Rambus' hopes dealt another major blow by Intel
“We will have to reconsider our Direct Rambus projections,” which had shown Direct RDRAM accounting for more than 40% of the DRAM market's unit shipments in 2002, said Jim Handy, an analyst at Dataquest Inc., San Jose. “Our original forecast was based on the premise that Intel would drive Direct Rambus adoption in the market. Now there is some uncertainty that this will happen.”

Of course, this is what I've been saying was inevitably going to happen for several months now:

"What news would it take to shake those RMBS shares out of your hands (at the current price)? ... Dataquest projecting RDRAM to remain a boutique memory?" #reply-14123241

"Re Semico, Dataquest and accurate predictions for RDRAM production in 2000." #reply-13658060
"This has been the subject of this thread for some time due to the question of Dataquest vs Semico and Inquest estimates being different." #reply-13654356
"Re Semico's forecasts of RDRAM. They have been better than Dataquest at this." #reply-13631596
"We should note that Semico hasn't had to change their prediction, while Dataquest has been steadily decreasing theirs, down towards the Semico value." #reply-13624086
"Given that Dataquest has never done anything but overestimate RDRAM usage, why are you trusting their figures in the future?" #reply-13620094
