James,

The article is very slanted in favor of Amazon. I have no clue if the equity markets will give Amazon more money by spring of 2001. The article is accurate int hat in Europe Amazon has a large lead but BOL is growing fast. The article touched on Amazon opening a site in Japan but did not mention BOL's presence that is already established. BOL is private but they have stated their book and music business is growing rapidly. That is in Europe as well as most of Asia. They did start after Amazon in Europe but now have surpassed Amazon in a large way on a world wide basis. This is not even to mention BOL's 50% ownership of Barnes and Noble.com. I believe BNBN reports their numbers after market close on Monday.

Please see these sites:

jp.bol.com

uk.bol.com

uk.bol.com

uk.bol.com

How far is the remaining $780 million real dollars Amazon has going to take them? The $908 million was exaggerated due to dragging out payables another five days.
