Dearborn, Michigan, July 30 (Bloomberg) -- Ford Motor Co., the world's No. 2 automaker, is expected to announce an agreement with Qualcomm Inc. to add wireless communications devices to cars, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing people close to the matter. The venture between Qualcomm and Ford, called Wingcast for now, could unveil so-called telematics services such as mobile phones, Internet, entertainment and navigation devices in 1 million Ford cars in model-year 2002, the people said. Wingcast is expected to have Ford as its largest shareholder and be based in San Diego, the paper said.
Qualcomm's division that makes chips for mobile phones and cellular networks could have a market value of as much as $40 billion after the company spins it off, analysts said.
