VSE Unit Awarded Department of Energy Management Services Contract For the Office of Industrial Technologies (OIT)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Energetics Incorporated (Energetics), a subsidiary of VSE Corporation (Nasdaq: VSEC), was recently awarded a contract to provide Management Support Services for the Office of Industrial Technologies (OIT) within the U.S. Department of Energy. The three-year contract, which was effective as of June 29, 2000, represents potential revenues of up to $5 million, depending upon customer requirements and funding availability. The contract includes two one-year options following the three-year base period, providing additional revenues of up to $3.6 million.

Management support services provided by Energetics through the DOE contract will include strategic and R&D planning; technical, market, and economic studies; technical communications and outreach; office automation; and program management support. All activities are focused on helping OIT develop and maintain a highly effective technology portfolio that will improve productivity, energy efficiency, and environmental performance in our nation's most energy-intensive industries.

Energetics has provided technical and management support to OIT for the past 20 years and has been instrumental in helping OIT implement its highly successful Industries of the Future strategy. This strategy emphasizes unique public-private partnerships to accomplish federal research and development (R&D) missions. Over the past five years, Energetics has helped major industries bring together their member companies to reach consensus on their technology priorities. The resulting technology roadmaps have been used to guide industry and government investments in new technology.
