ADM Tronics 'Sonotron' well received at European Conference
NORTHVALE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 15, 1997--
Electronic device effective in treating Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
ADM Tronics Unlimited Inc. (NASDAQ:ADMT) exhibited Sonotron, a pulsed radio frequency therapeutic device which has received positive results in the management of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and other repetitive stress conditions, at the European Federation of Rheumatology and Traumatology Medical Conference (EFORT) that was held April 24-27, 1997 in Barcelona, Spain.
Andre DiMino, executive vice president of ADM Tronics, said that approximately 7,000 physicians representing every country in Europe, along with doctors from the Far East and Latin America, attended the event.``Over 50 people were administered Sonotron therapy during the four day conference which is one of the world's most prestigious Orthopaedic conferences,'' DiMino said. An ADM Tronics poster on the Sonotron device was presented at the show and viewed by thousands of attendees. A total of 2,200 poster abstracts were submitted to EFORT by researchers, and the Sonotron poster was one of only 500 that were chosen by a medical advisory panel for presentation at the conference.
Dr. Alfonso DiMino, the inventor of the Sonotron device and president of ADM Tronics; Andre DiMino and Michael Clark, international marketing representative, as well as Sonotron distributors representing 11 countries, were in attendance at the conference to meet with interested physicians.
Andre DiMino said that over 100 active sales leads were generated for distributors and that talks were initiated with a distributor representing France.
Doctors who attended the ADM Tronics Hospitality Suite heard the results of a clinical study undertaken recently in which Sonotron proved its efficacy in the treatment of Carpal Tunnel and Tarsal Tunnel Syndromes. The paper was presented by Dr. Stephen Brenner, who administered the study with Dr. Charles Dutkowsky, at Pascack Valley Hospital, Westwood, N.J. Their six-week test included 50 patient case studies, and ended with the doctors concluding that, ``Although our results are preliminary, we believe the device will prove to be useful in the treatment of Carpal and Tarsal Tunnel Syndromes.'' In addition, representatives from major universities around Europe are initiating talks with their department heads to conduct tests with the Sonotron device. Doctors presently conducting studies with the Sonotron at Lund University in Sweden and San Rafael Hospital in Barcelona, Spain, were also on hand at the Sonotron booth during the conference.
According to ADM Tronics executives, the EFORT Congress was a major step in introducing the Sonotron to a broader market. ``The show brought us in line with the biggest names in the Orthopaedic field and turned out to be a major success for all participants,'' said Andre DiMino. Plans are now being made by ADM Tronics to attend the 4th EFORT Congress in Brussels, Belgium in 1999.
