I have never seen it being used... If you go into any computer cafe over here in Europe, more than half of everybody is playing Counter-Strike. The game cafes have greatly reduced their budgets since only very few games are asked for.

I believe, that when the X-box gets out, on-line gaming is one of the most important sales parameters, and Counter-Strike is one of the most played on-line games in the World, that requires game hardware. Of course, chess or Go may be much more widely played, but they are not relevant to X-box discussions.
