Re: Media Metrix Top Sites, after this "deal" is done:
Somebody please correct if I'm wrong. But according to the most recent Media Metrix Top 500 US Web & Digital Media Properties for May 2000 (5/1-5/31/2000) mediametrix.com
Go2Net Network was rated #14 w/ 12,794,000 "unique" visitors (althought the "longs" and shark-ladies must have made up over 1 million of those <g>).
Infospace ("Impressions," whatever that means) was rated #20 w/ 8,661,000 "unique" monthly visitors (apparently almost none from the SI INSP thread <g>).
Doesn't that mean that after the "merger" (interesting use of terms, IMO) the new INSP will now jump up to a combined monthly rating of #7, with 21,455,000 "unique" (using that term quite "literally," based on most of the people I've met here on SI <g>) visitors.
And assuming that AOL/Time Warner deal will be consummated (can I say that on SI?), the "merged" company will leapfrog (jumping over six places), and INSP will become the #6 most visited (family) of Web sites on the Internet . Not too bad!
One question I still have. Will the future "broadband" (DIGEO-GNET, CHTR etc..) and wireless Internet access "visits" of the new INSP be added to those figures? If so, then yaaahooooo! Here we come. <g>
Roger
PS. Just for the heck of it, I put a ton of INSP into our retirement accounts today (IRA's, SEP's, ROTH's, & SIMPLE's). Figured it couldn't hurt, as we already have way too much "DIGEO" stuff in them (going no where lately <g>). |
