3 new 'content' users--great stuff. Today's announcement. CIC continues to position as.... "supplying the most advanced, proven encryption available today" ..and... "Certicom's ECC is being made available as an enhanced security option".

Lets hope that the real desired bottom (top) line--Revenues--are affected soon. Never any mention of revenues in these announcements due to the subservient role that CIC plays in the selling of other peoples products--- ie these three.

Certicom Continues to Strengthen Presence in Content Protection Market

Certicom Announces Three New Customers Using Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) to Ensure the Authenticity, Validity, & Security of Digital Content on the Internet

HAYWARD, Calif., August 1, 2000 - Continuing to strengthen its presence and influence in today's Internet content protection market, Certicom (Nasdaq: CERT and TSE: CIC), a leading provider of mobile e-commerce security, today announced that is has signed license agreements with three new companies. New licensees include DataPlay, Inc., GLOBEtrotter Software and Slam Dunk Networks. These leading companies have licensed Certicom's highly-trusted elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) to enhance the protection of valuable electronic content from hackers and information pirates as it is distributed over Internet.

"At every company I'm involved with, wireless applications are moving to the top of the priority list in the quest to offer true ubiquity and convenience to the mass market," said Steve Mott, CEO of BetterBuyDesign, President of Priceline WebHouse Club and former head of ecommerce at MasterCard, who will be speaking at Certicom PKS2000. "The tsunami-like adoption of wireless in turn is propelling the security industry to deploy the smaller, faster, and cheaper solutions that we've been waiting years for, making safe ecommerce 'ready for prime-time' at last."

As new forms of information are moving over open networks and the Internet at faster rates, organizations and consumers are very concerned about protecting their copyrighted data. Using Certicom's security technology, software providers can provide a more secure platform for protecting electronic content from theft. Certicom's market-leading elliptic curve encryption enhances the security infrastructure of online services by supplying the most advanced, proven encryption available today.

DataPlay Inc. was incorporated in November of 1998 to develop a Web-enabled digital content recording and distribution media for portable Internet appliances and hand-held consumer entertainment devices. DataPlay was conceived to develop new ways of delivering exciting content into the hands of consumers - and freeing them to take their data anywhere, any time.

GLOBEtrotter is providing electronic commerce for software products and services to over 2000 software vendors. GLOBEtrotter's products span the areas of electronic licensing, license management, software asset management and the distribution of electronic licenses through distribution channels. Over $40 Billion of third party software has shipped using GLOBEtrotter's FLEXlm, and Certicom's ECC is being made available as an enhanced security option.

Slam Dunk Networks, Inc., operates the Internet's first global infrastructure that offers guaranteed transaction message delivery and tracking. This business commerce infrastructure rapidly connects trading partners around the world for business critical transactions.

"As the delivery of intellectual content over the web continues to increase, publishers and corporate clients must have a security foundation that they can trust to protect their sensitive information," said Rick Dalmazzi, president and CEO of Certicom. "We are pleased to announce these new content protection licensees which represent Certicom's rapidly expanding client base and the widespread acceptance of our powerful ECC technology in the content protection market space."

About Elliptic Curve Cryptography

Developed for a broad range of computing platforms and maximum interoperability, Certicom's Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) technology enables strong, high performance security for many pieces of the computing infrastructure, including the new generation of small form-factor products such as handheld computers, pagers, cell phones and smart cards. Certicom's patented implementation of ECC technology provides a more efficient alternative to conventional public key cryptographic algorithms in many mobile and wireless environments, allowing for faster processing speed, reduced bandwidth usage and decreased battery requirements. These advantages make Certicom's ECC-based security technology particularly well suited to mobile devices that incorporate less powerful processors, such as handheld computing devices, Internet-enabled phones and two-way pagers.
