Yeah, rulz are weird stuff in golf.

How about that time The Walrus had to kneel under a tree to hit a ball? Stadler was leading the tournament after the round and some fan from the midwest called up and complained that Stadler had to take a stoke penalty.

Because it was a wet day, Stadler kneeled on a towel to keep from getting soaked.

"Building a stance", one stroke penalty. Cut me a break.

Like most courses, you have to be invited to join Pine Valley. I'm surprised your friend did not know that.....having caddied Baltusrol and all. The other rumor I've heard about Pine Valley or Augusta is that if you are invited and decline then you never get another invite.

I'd probably have to decline based on cost alone. I suppose it might not be an expensive place, but I recall when I played Westchester a few times about ten years ago the cost , then, at Westchester was in the neighborhood of $200,000 before you put your bag on the tee.

Like a hundred thousand dollar bond, another $50,000 initiation, another 25 or 35 for annual dues......and this was around 1990. $200K was a fair bit of change in 1990. College was less than that in most cases. So for all I know Pine Valley is a fair number as well.

In retrospect, I do not recall that Baltusrol is very expensive; but the Regular Membership is full as I recall. Even if you join you may have to wait years to get Regular Membership and play golf often if memory serves.
