Apollo,

Thanks for the warm welcome.
My thoughts on XLNX are below.

(1) I am not expecting XLNX to become a Gorilla. Just a Prince (hoping to be a King some day) in a near Tornado market. 70% to 75% annual growth in PLD's reported in most recent quarter.

(2)The other Prince in PLD's is ALTR. Altera has been seen as a better choice by many, but XLNX has the slight lead in market share.

(3)Something caught my attention during XLNX's conf. call last week. Analysts were voicing concern over management's decision to keep margins low on their new higher end PLD's. XLNX responded that they were more interested in design wins and market share gains at this stage than profit margins. (I think they've read TRFM.)

(4)I want to participate in, what looks like, the coming PLD Tornado and thought XLNX the most compelling place to start. However, I will be watching the development of what could be a future disruption to DSP's and PLD's. Namely Quicksilver's dynamic logic (QuickSilver's term for this is Adaptable Computing Machine). Link below.

Thats a quick take on my reasons for owning XLNX. It is really a Tornado play, but if they can match Quicksilver on dynamic logic devices we could have a GG on our hands. I'll post later regarding their IPR (I think they invented the FPGA type of PLD).
