Hello Stribe, Re: I'm hoping that your experience with the MSI board is shared by me.. I've been mildly concerned from a post of Johan's at Aces hardware; says from his review that while its a great board, it did have issues with Win 98 (the Via drivers were acting up) and it doesnt like substandard memory (particularly PC-133) I use PC-100.. so I hope I avoid that problem.

I've seen various sources of compliants about the VIA drivers in the past. I installed WIN98 SE and have not installed any other drivers from the MSI CDROM (I did install MSI's onboard sound drivers and PC Health utility-temps/voltages/ etc.). I've seen nothing to complain about at all, in fact I've been pleasantly surprised! The hard drive performance has been very impressive, I don't have hard numbers, but it moves faster than any machine I've seen through MS's HD defragmentation routine.

I've used only Crucial PC133 memory (128MB sticks) and have experienced no problems. When I ordered the memory the price was the same for both PC100 and PC133. I have filled at least one machine full, i.e., 3 128MB sticks with no problems. I think all Athlon machines like/need quality memory, some users seemed to get along fine with generic PC100 in the past and some have not. Cheap memory can cause lots of problems to say the least, sometimes intermittent problems.

BTW, I'll look for Johan's report at Aces hardware, I must have missed it, I've been away for several days.

Kindest regards,
CrazyMan
