What I learned is don't put all your eggs in one basket. Each of these stocks represent a fairly small part of my portfolio, why? because all my stocks start out as a small percentage. My big holdings, EMCS, CSCO, DELL, & JDSU started out as small holdings and grew into big holdings. In other words 2 out of 3 picks I make are mediocre or bad, so I don't put my whole future into each pick. If you land upon a really good pick it will become a major piece all by itself. It's too tempting to go for the big win.

that's a good lesson I've learned too. Although I'm still vastly more concentrated than any but the other loons here would think wise, I'm less so than I was, and do not plan open a position in the future that is more than, oh, 10-15% max of the total portfolio. Should any position grow to around or more than 40-50%, moreover, I'll probably take some profits and redistribute the cash, just to lessen the exposure a bit and reduce the possibilities of future remorse.

PS I put CREE in the same category as my QCOM and ITXC, although it hasn't dropped nearly enough. That is, everything's fine, even great, so I'm holding tight.
