John, thanks for the data on the demand side for digital cameras. Besides the fact that I've abandoned my trusted Olympus OM-1 and its magnificent lenses, in favor of a Nikon 950 (and haven't used conventional film for more than a year), I have begun using the 950 as a pocket scanner for making copies of documents. When I go to a law library, for example, and find a case that relates to my interests, I simply place the document on a table and make a photo, with the camera hand held, and my elbows resting on the table. Easy, quick, and a lot cheaper than photocopies at the rates they charge commercially. Thus, the camera has the added versatility of a small, precision scanner.
