A diamond drill is being mobilized to test the Boundary zone in early August in order to follow up on encouraging surface sample results. Phase 1 work on the California and Surf properties adjacent to Teck and Sumitomo's 5.6-million-ounce Pogo gold deposit included 60 rock and 710 soil samples collected from the Boundary zone and Southeast Surf anomaly. All samples were analyzed at Chemex Laboratories in Vancouver. Geophysical work consisting of 45 kilometres of ground magnetics and 24 kilometres of ground VLF-EM was also carried out to investigate the extent of potential mineralization. Work concentrated on two areas, the Boundary zone and the Southeast Surf anomaly, where rock samples have returned gold assays up to 24.8 grams per tonne (0.72 ounce per ton) and 4.6 g/t (0.05 ounce per ton), respectively. Infill soil sampling at the Boundary zone further defined a bismuth-arsenic indicator element soil anomaly 1,800 metres by 1,300 metres in size, centred on a 900-metre by 300-metre gold-in-soil geochemical anomaly. A magnetic high anomaly is coincident with the Boundary showings. At the Southeast Surf anomaly, infill soil sampling further defined a gold-in-soil anomaly over an area 1,300 metres by 1,000 metres lying within and straddling a porphyritic intrusion. The gold-in-soil geochemical anomaly forms the core of a 1,500-metre by 2,000-metre arsenic-bismuth soil geochemical anomaly. A magnetic low anomaly is coincident with the Southeast Surf showings. Encouraging results from Rimfire's Pogo district properties continue to indicate the presence of Pogo-style mineralization on the properties. A diamond drill is being mobilized to the property, with drilling to start on the Boundary zone in early August. (c) Copyright 2000 Canjex Publishing Ltd. canada-stockwatch.com
