There is no law that a stock must fill in the gap...many do..but some don't. And usually the stock alone is prompted to fill in the gap, and not a whole sector aka SOXX.

So I would not plan on AMD doing any back filling...this whole downdraft is more to do with market sentiment re semis and the economy in general than problems with AMD.
