8/1....SAPE...shares rose 6 percent in Tuesday's after-hours session after the company improved its net income by 77 percent.

Sapient (SAPE: news, msgs) shares rose 6.25 to 110.125 on Island ECN after closing down 9 7/8 to 103 7/8 on the Nasdaq.

Sapient reported pro forma net income of $15.6 million, or 23 cents per share, compared with $8.2 million, or 13 cents per share, for the same quarter a year ago. Analysts surveyed by First Call expected earnings of 20 cents per share on average.

Revenue for the quarter was $125.8 million, compared with $64.2 million in the same quarter a year ago.
