Cree Products Featured in Video Displays at Republican National Convention
DURHAM, N.C., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Three large light emitting diode (LED) display screens incorporating Cree, Inc.'s (Nasdaq: CREE) blue and green LEDs are featured as the backdrop to the on-stage speakers at the Republican National Convention this week in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The screens consist of one center screen, measuring 23' x 17.5', and two outer screens, each measuring 12.6' x 9.5'. The total number of blue and green LEDs incorporated in the screens approximate 1.2 million.
Neal Hunter, Chairman and CEO of Cree, stated, "The use of LED technology in displays is becoming more widespread. Cree's high brightness LEDs are well suited for these applications because of their increased efficiency and low price."
Tony Van de Ven, President and CEO of Lighthouse Technologies, manufacturer of the screens, commented, "We are experiencing an increased demand for large indoor and outdoor full color displays that use LEDs due to the superior brightness over existing technologies, the flat panel construction, and the true-to-life vibrant colors exhibited in the display. Many venues are using these screens to provide full color images and improved visibility."
