Burt, >Been away in Hawaii for two weeks vacationing and never looked at a newspaper. What the blazes happened to AMD that caused the stock price to crumble in that period?

JMHO, but:

1. That stock had a tremendous runup in the first half of the year. I don't care what their forward PE is, gravity caught up with it.

2. More fundamentally, the word is spreading that Intel has the problem of meeting demand mostly solved. Volumes sound good up to and including 933 MHz, fast enough for most desktops and small servers (DUH). The vast majority still will specify Intel, so the street feels it might be over somewhat for AMD.

3. Duron came out with poor infastructure, i.e., chipset aand mobo support.

4. AMD seems to have shot there wad for a while wrt new product intros. That's my opinion.

I really think it's #1 the most: gravity.
