Thread: Any comments as to whether the current weakness in NTAP is solely related to the stream of announcements the past few days from other companies getting in the NAS market?

Now IBM is even going to expand their storage offerings to include NAS according to a research report at ML that came up when I searched for new research on NTAP this morning. Here is the paragraph that mentions NAS (but not NTAP):

Linda [Sanford, General Manager of IBM’s Storage Systems Group] claims that IBM is “back in the storage
business.” The Shark storage product, has been enjoying
solid customer acceptance. According to IBM, about 50%
of top EMC accounts are currently evaluating and
deploying Sharks. Also, IBM has announced an alliance
with Compaq. IBM will OEM Compaq midrange disk
arrays and support its SAN virtualization technology,
while Compaq will OEM Sharks and use Tivoli system
management software. She added that IBM is planning to
announce a new NAS product soon.

[end of paragraph]
