Hi CIMA. I;m sorry that I have not contributed to the thread in some time. I have been less of a global speculator and more of a domestic speculator over the past year or so because I have not had the time to keep up on foreign events like i used to. I am trying to make time for it because it is always so interesting and exciting.

I have been running a few rubles in my spare time. Feel free to check out this side-project i conjured up to relieve me from my insanity and stress at work. It is chock full of Paul Berliner rants: lbcapital.ckt1.com

Anyway, regarding my lack of foreign stock speculation recently, I sure felt like a schmuck for missing out on the opportunity offered by the Fiji unrest. Bank Pacific Century
(BOH) blew up in June because of its exposure to Fiji. I used to be all over this type of stuff. Not that it always works though - as I was short every Banco south of the equator when Brazil devalued the Real, only to have their market do the exact opposite (huge rally) that day compared to what I and everyone expected (huge crash). But I have a feeling that this type of trading is going to be fruitful from hereon out, as the big players (soros and robertson) are no longer participating. That means a more level playing field for a player like me.

I dearly miss keeping up on foreign affairs, but I dont miss the huge sums of money which I lost by applying that knowledge in the usual ill-intended, haughty manner. Nonetheless, I am itching to get back in the game and will keep you posted on my ideas.

-Paul
