On domestic policy, Truman was a cockamamie populist. But on foreign policy, he made the tough calls, and was mostly right. He gave the go ahead to bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki, he supported the anti- communist forces in Greece, he backed the Marshall Plan, he gave the CIA the go ahead, he negotiated NATO, he set us on the course of containment, he, essentially, made sure the line was held in the first place..........
