Royal Vopak Turns to J.D. Edwards for Complete Internet and E-Business
World's Largest Chemical/Oil Logistics and Distribution Provider to Streamline Global Operations Using J.D. Edwards' Active Supply Chain
DENVER, Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- J.D. Edwards & Company (Nasdaq: JDEC), a leading provider of agile, collaborative solutions for the Internet economy, today announced that Royal Vopak, a world leader in chemical/oil logistics and distribution, has selected its OneWorld(TM) solution to align global supply chain operations and strengthen its presence on the Internet. OneWorld will provide Vopak customers the ability to track and trace product movement and availability, and to place orders via the Internet.
The result of a 1999 merger between Dutch-based companies Royal Van Ommeren and Royal Pakhoed, Royal Vopak determined that it needed to unify its logistics and distribution businesses under a single enterprise software system to best exploit economies of scale and corporate best practices. Additionally, J.D. Edwards' Active Supply Chain, powered by OneWorld, will enable Royal Vopak to integrate systems across the supply chain, an achievement which could significantly decrease worldwide operating costs by increasing collaboration among key participants throughout the supply chain.
